At the end of each year, it is necessary to take stock of the year that ended and start planning the objectives for the following year.
I have to be honest, my 2018 has been really satisfying, both from a personal point of view and from a business point of view. I was able to accomplish most of my goals, I was able to travel a lot, both for work and for personal reasons, and I continued my journey of personal growth.
When I look at the results of my 2018, I am delighted, and I can declare that “productive” is the word that best defines my year.
However I am not satisfied, because now it is no longer 2018, but it is 2019, a new year, new challenges, further objectives, the sheet is white again, and I have to write my story again.
I know that every year everyone repeats the same story:
– This will be my year.
– I will make a thousand different projects.
– I will lose weight.
– I will write a book.
– I will become a better person.
– I will complete all the exams.
– I will find a better job.
Projects and ideas that are born on January 1 are destined to die to the end of January.
But I don’t want to do it, I don’t want to lie and waste time unnecessarily, I have to have realistic projects in my head, maybe a few, but something I can really do.
My first goal is to continue my path of personal growth, becoming more aware of my potential and being able to look at the mirror with the awareness of having become a better person.
Wanting to become an example of behavior for others is a truly ambitious goal, perhaps too much, and for me, it is more than enough to become my best possible version.
I would like to travel even further, see the world and new places, and try to make a career at work. Commitment, professionalism and great precision will be the keys to my success, and I’m sure they will take me exactly where I want to go.
But above all I have to win an essential challenge with myself: stop procrastinating and silence that voice forever inside my head that tells me “rest, do it tomorrow.”
I no longer want to procrastinate and waste time, and I have to work twice as hard in half the time because of procrastination.
My first priority of the year is getting things done, and I’m sure I’ll do it., and be able to say I made progress by December 31st, 2019.
On a side note I joined Weight watchers at the start of the dear, as I’m hoping it will help me make better food decisions and experiment more with food, so keep an eye out for food recipes.
It will not be easy, but I will do my best to do it.

This week being Mental Health awareness week, I decided to write how I keep my mental state in check. Growing up in Africa, made me see Mental health in a different way. I grew up in an environment where mental sickness was viewed in a different perspective, take whatever without complains and the likes of depression, anxiety, bipolar etc. was a myth, even moving to after Europe roughly 14 years, it is still a learning curve everywhere, and requires more awareness.
Mental Health іѕ the “psychological ѕtаtе оf ѕоmеоnе who is funсtіоnіng аt a satisfactory level of еmоtіоnаl аnd bеhаvіоurаl аdjuѕtmеnt”. Frоm the реrѕресtіvе оf роѕіtіvе рѕусhоlоgу оr holism, mеntаl health mау include аn іndіvіduаl’ѕ аbіlіtу to еnjоу lіfе, and сrеаtе a bаlаnсе bеtwееn lіfе асtіvіtіеѕ аnd efforts tо асhіеvе psychological rеѕіlіеnсе. Aссоrdіng tо World Hеаlth Orgаnіzаtіоn (WHO), mеntаl hеаlth includes “subjective wеll-bеіng, реrсеіvеd self-efficacy, autonomy, соmреtеnсе, іntеr-gеnеrаtіоnаl dependence, and self-actualization of оnе’ѕ іntеllесtuаl and еmоtіоnаl potential, аmоng оthеrѕ.” Thе WHO further states that the wеll-bеіng of an individual іѕ encompassed іn the rеаlіzаtіоn of thеіr аbіlіtіеѕ, coping wіth nоrmаl ѕtrеѕѕеѕ оf lіfе, рrоduсtіvе work аnd contribution tо their community. Culturаl dіffеrеnсеѕ, subjective assessments, and competing professional thеоrіеѕ аll аffесt hоw “mеntаl health” іѕ defined. Little things that we tend to ignore affects mental illness like stress and I personally feel stress is the one thing that isn’t taken seriously as a concern.
Awareness, training, interaction with experts has made me come a long way in ways I see my mental health can be affected, you don’t have to be in a hospital to have a mental illness. And you will be surprised how a little change can improve your mental state. We need to know anyone can be affected regardless of age, gender or status
Here are 7 ways I look after my Mental health

I’m not perfect with my eating, anyone close to me know I try my eats, and I try as much to make sure my eating is balanced.

I’m lucky I have never had an issue with exercise, don’t get me wrong some days I just want to go home and crawl into bed, but I try to exercise rеgulаrlу as it gіvеѕ me an еnоrmоuѕ ѕеnѕе of wеll-bеіng. It helps me fееl more еnеrgеtіс thrоughоut thе dау, ѕlеер bеttеr at nіght, have ѕhаrреr mеmоrіеѕ, аnd feel more relaxed and роѕіtіvе and confident about myself.
It саn be hаrd fоr реорlе with mеntаl illness tо ассерt thе іdеа thаt there іѕ a problem. Thіѕ іѕ one rеаѕоn, аmоng others, whу ѕоmе people аrе in denial оf thе іllnеѕѕ-thеrе іѕ a соnflісt bеtwееn lіkіng оnеѕеlf, vеrѕuѕ acknowledging whаt ѕееmѕ lіkе a significant flaw, реорlе must come tо terms wіth the idea thаt they may hаvе thіѕ biological “difference.”
It іѕ important to distinguish between а: your аttіtudе, which іѕ ѕоmеthіng уоu саn соntrоl. Sоmеthіng уоu саn’t соntrоl, nаmеlу, thе fасt that something is wrong. Your rаtіng іn life isn’t nесеѕѕаrіlу based оn the саrdѕ уоu’vе bееn dеаlt, such as bеіng dеаlt a humаn bоdу wіth ѕоmе рrоblеmѕ, but is instead bаѕеd uроn hоw уоu рlау thоѕе саrdѕ (іn оthеr wоrdѕ, whеrе уоu gо in life dеѕріtе thіѕ сіrсumѕtаnсе.) I dіdn’t mаnufасturе my brаіn, my genes оr mу environment. Therefore, I did nоt bring mу imperfections on mуѕеlf and it is nоt mу fault. Hоwеvеr, I do hаvе a great dеаl оf роwеr оvеr hоw I bеhаvе and thе fallout of my асtіоnѕ dеѕеrvеdlу соmеѕ tо me. But I саn ѕtіll ассерt mуѕеlf as I аm.
Accepting it’s ok to not be ok
Aссерt emotions and thоughtѕ, rather thаn judging thеm, оn psychological hеаlth. It ѕееmѕ like соmmоn ѕеnѕе. Whеn a ѕtrеѕѕful ѕіtuаtіоn causes nеgаtіvе еmоtіоnѕ, accepting fееlіngѕ оf fruѕtrаtіоn or uрѕеt — rather than trуіng to рrеtеnd you’re nоt uрѕеt, оr beating yourself uр fоr fееlіng thіѕ wау — rеduсеѕ guіlt and negative ѕеlf-іmаgе. Ovеr time, thіѕ will іn turn lеаd tо іnсrеаѕеd psychological health.
Read a book

6 Do not suffer in silence
if уоu wаіt until ѕуmрtоmѕ of рооr mеntаl hеаlth mаnіfеѕt tо ѕtаrt tаlkіng аbоut thеm, уоu mіght fіnd that уоu’rе not ѕurе whо wіll ‘get іt’ оr who уоu can trust. Mаkе sure you know аt lеаѕt one person in уоur lіfе you could rеlу on tо respond wіth empathy if уоu ever came tо thеm іn еmоtіоnаl сrіѕіѕ – ѕоmеоnе whо wіll lіѕtеn tо уоu wіthоut judgement and hеlр you gеt аnу hеlр уоu mіght nееd. If I tend to feel down, regardless the reason (work related or personal) I always confide in close friends and my family it helps ease the burden, and I notice a relief after a friendly chat.
We often tаlk аbоut how іt feels to bе in аn unhealthy relationship, but wе give lеѕѕ thought tо hоw toxic relationships affect уоur hеаlth. Lіkе аnу рrоlоngеd ѕtrеѕѕful experience, іt’ѕ bоund tо hаvе some рhуѕісаl аnd mеntаl еffесtѕ, rіght? Toxic relationship could also be close friends, if they are bringing negativity or not helping, there is no shame in letting go or keeping your distance.

One Friday the 13th I turned a year older, and I’m grateful and thankful to have the privilege of to enjoy another birthday
The last year was intense and full of all kinds of events, both positive and negative.
When I look at myself in the mirror, I know I have become a very different person from last year. The experiences enriched me and contributed to my personal growth, now I have the feeling of knowing myself better and being able to manage many situations in a better way.
This remarkable result was not achieved only thanks to my commitment, but it is the result of my interaction with each one of you. Every person who is part of my life has made his/her contribution to allow me to get to this point and I will always have a debt with you for your help. Each of you has incredibly helped me, both with blatant actions and with small daily efforts and I will try to repay my debt by assisting you in every moment of your life.
Now is the time to thank you for all you have done for me.
Thank you for allowing me to appreciate life and all it offers. I learned that pure joy is in small things: an unexpected message, an ice-cream with friends, a walk with the partner, the sun’s rays on the skin, an unexpected gift, an evening full of memories.
Happiness is in little everyday things, and I will always remember this lesson of life.
Thank you for enduring me in sad moments, on some occasions I know I am particularly insufferable and acid and I hope that my words have not offended any of you. I have lost control of the situation, and I apologize sincerely, unfortunately, I am afraid of losing the people I love, and that attitude is a defense mechanism.
Thank you all for the support in the beautiful moments of this year, but above all for the support in the negative moments. Supporting a person when everything goes in the right direction is easy, but helping a person in a moment of difficulty is the basis of a real friendship and a united family.

Apart from receiving gifts, I think birthdays are the perfect time to reflect on how far one has come, and make more wishes.
“Sandra, wake up and smell the coffee, the world is too big for you to stay in the dark.” Those were the words I told myself last year as I tried to give my life a more positive direction.
The New Year came in, and I equipped myself with positive thoughts and energy towards productivity; in work, in business, loving myself, and towards humanity. It is the start of the 4th month of the year, and I appreciate myself for how much I have been able to achieve. Stepping out from shards of sharp edges into the grass of freedom and I have never felt so alive. The transition is gradual, but I’m impressed with my progress.
In January, my office appreciated my good works and gave me a promotion. What a good way to start the year! I have so much energy and enthusiasm to work more, not just because I am seeking rejuvenation and usefulness to my soul, but because I want the organization to move forward. It is time I made myself the emblem of everything positive. So, much more energy will be diverted towards being fruitful in good things this year.
Just before Christmas I decided to start my own blog, to share my story and life adventure. I have always wanted to do something of my own. I mean, something that I can point to as my creation. This blog is one of the fulfillment that brings joy, the blog will follow my daily life. It’s off to a slow start, but what’s the rush.
My business is also off to a great start and I’m excited for the Year ahead, sometimes I wonder where I get the energy because I still try to balance everything I do daily with this. Although doing all these is both demanding and challenging, I know I will do just fine, handling them all, as I have grown to become a strong woman.
Last year was a tough one for me, I crumbled like a cloth of skin without a frame. You know, it has been my culture to give everything that I have into things I cherish, but was hurt. I thought what was wrong with me. Is there anything bad that I have that repels good people? Don’t I have a beautiful soul? Am I not worth being around? These and many more questions pop up on the screen of my mind. And each time I journey through depths of thoughts, I find empty shells of answers to what became rhetorical questions, but like every experience I go through I learn and it makes me stronger.
Sometimes, I sit down and look at the beautiful things around the world. I smell the air, I see little creatures and pets, and I see people sharing smiles. I see men hug one another; every man being another’s happiness. My thought would wander back to myself, always. I am also a beautiful part of this world.
Times are challenging and things aren’t moving fast as much as I hope. I am not halfway my expectations, but I’m amazed at where I’m at today, I am smiling at myself, and I feel strengthened. I see myself ready for the world. No, this is not a situation of me against the world, it is me being equipped to make the world a better place.
Note to self and others :Live your life to impress you and no one else.

WIth Valentines day in two days time, are you single? Thinking about Valentine’s Day can make one feel inadequate and incomplete due to the pressure that comes from the society. However, as a single person, Valentine Day’s day doesn’t have to be boring; you can do something special for yourself instead of putting your life on hold until you get into a relationship.
Remember that your life today is not a dress rehearsal for the day you will get into a relationship, so try to make good use of every opportunity. Use Valentine’s Day to celebrate self-love; love in all form is worth celebrating. Here are few ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Indulge: You can start your Valentine’s Day by having a Bubble bath with a glass of chilled wine and an exciting love storybook. Gently pamper your body while taking your bubble bath shower.
PREPARE A SPECIAL VALENTINE’S DAY MEAL FOR YOURSELF: On Valentine’s Day, you can give yourself a treat by preparing that special meal you have always longed for, make it delicious and enjoy yourself or if you hate cooking like myself, there is always take away
GO OUT, TREAT YOURSELF : Go out in the evening, and enjoy some delicious meal at a restaurant or an Ice-cream joint. Order for whatever you want, eat and have fun. Why not go to the cinema and see a movie, with a glass of wine and some popcorn. Have a fun laugh and enjoy your day.
CELEBRATE GALENTINE’S DAY: This one is my favorite, If you also have a lot of friends who are also single, you can come together and have a date. Celebrate Galentine, a day you celebrate love for your female friends and make the best use of the day.
FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE THINGS IN LIFE: Look around you, see the friends you have, the family members that are always there to support you and be grateful for all of this things. Focus your mind on the positive aspect of life and if possible create a gratitude journal.
DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE DOING: You can choose to get yourself lingerie, buy yourself a flower or some chocolates and do something you enjoy doing. Don’t wait until you get into a relationship before showering yourself with love and telling yourself how beautiful you are.
Enjoy a Marathon of TV Shows/ Movies: If you have a tv series addiction like myself, line a list of your favorites (movie, tv show, podcast) grab your favorite ice-cream, fresh pair of PJs and enjoy.
Finally, Valentine’s Day can be a romantic day, but romance doesn’t have to be all about love. If you are single on Valentine’s Day, don’t allow yourself to wallow in self-pity. You have a lot of options, get dress up, prepare a special meal for yourself, get yourself a pizza, and do something sweet because self-love is the best love you can rely on.
Ready to make “great health” your New Year’s resolution? Starting in the kitchen is a great first step! Taking bite-size steps toward a better you is a great way to achieve your health goals—no need to dive head first into larger-than-life changes.
Commit to cooking dinner at home 4 nights a week, or incorporating “Meatless Monday” challenges into your diet. Experiment with recipes from different diets like Mediterranean or keto. By mixing things up with your diet, you can more quickly see results (and have fun in the process!)
With so much pressure on us constantly to look a certain way or live a certain lifestyle, it’s easy to feel that if you don’t “go hard” you better “go home”. This all-or-nothing mindset is a surefire way to set yourself up for failure! Make small choices every day, because, over time, that’s what leads to great results. Not eating chicken and broccoli every day for the rest of your life! (What kind of life would that be, after all?)
I believe that a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be hard. Making better choices about what you eat should be simple.
